SFP takes Arbour Day to school
– Arbour Day is an important date in calendars across the world. In South Africa, Arbour Week takes place in the first week of September and, during this time, people are encouraged to plant indigenous trees and raise awareness on the importance of trees and the role they play in our environment.
This past Arbour Week, the Singisi Forest Products Community Development Department (CDD) in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, celebrated with the students of Inkanyezi Yamachi Primary School near Harding. Together, under the banner of the Schools Environmental Education Programme (SEED), the CDD and learners planted indigenous trees. The students were also taken on a guided tour of the Ingeli Indigenous Forests hiking trail. Through this initiative, SFP adds value to Natural Capital which is a critical pillar in our business.
