– Merensky Hardwoods’ Northern Timbers Sawmill has once again been recognised as a leader in Health and Safety after it was awarded a five-star NOSA grading in June with an effort mark above 95% and a Disabling Injury Frequency Rate (DIFR) of 0.18.
This is the highest score achieved by the mill in the past five years and is thus the first of three qualifying years required for entrance into NOSA’s prestigious safety awards ceremony, the NOSCARS.
The NOSA Five Star System for occupational risk management details the critical requirements for an effective and efficient Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental management system. Hardwoods’ remarkable achievement was made possible through the cooperation, teamwork and passion for safety of all sawmill employees. Considerable effort was made by all SHEQ representatives, supervisors, line managers and management involved in the process. ]
Merensky and Hardwoods management congratulates every sawmill employee for their contributions to a culture of safety within the business.
